Imagining Church

This Sunday, John talked about imagination in the Christian life. He described imagination as a way to think about what might be, seeing beyond our own limited perspective. What role does imagination play in your faith?

For some, Sunday morning might be the only time of the week that they exercise their imagination. It is at church that they are asked to think about a world over 2000 years ago, to visualize Jesus' teaching and acts, or to identify with Old Testament characters like Abraham or David.

For others, church might stifle imagination. After a week of learning and interacting with ideas, they might come to church only to hear orders and commands that are very unimaginative.

Have you experienced either of these extremes? How can church encourage imagination?
